This is the business Thurrock Engineering Supplies started as. In 1990 it was founded to supply engineering and construction contractors around Thurrock with the tools, fixings and fasteners they needed to keep working, and the workshop and maintenance trade has been the spine of the company ever since — including a long-standing supply relationship with Thames Board Mills.
Today TES supplies tools, fixings, fasteners, abrasives, lubricants, PPE, workwear and welfare to engineering workshops, manufacturers and industrial maintenance teams across the UK.

What we supply into engineering and industry
Maintenance, repair and operations buying is wide and shallow — hundreds of lines, most of them low value, all of them capable of stopping a machine. The point of a single supplier is that it collapses into one account and one delivery.
Power tools and accessories
DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee and Bosch, with the batteries, blades, bits and accessories that actually run out. Standardised on a platform where a workshop has already chosen one.
Abrasives, cutting and consumables
Discs, abrasives, tapes, sealants, adhesives and marking products, on call-off against agreed pricing so the reorder is not a monthly negotiation.
Fixings, fasteners and specials
Standard fixings and fasteners from stock, plus non-standard and made-to-drawing items — brackets, machined and fabricated parts, one-offs through to production runs — through TES bespoke components.
Lubricants, chemicals and hygiene
Fuchs lubricants, WD-40, and workshop and welfare hygiene including SC Johnson professional ranges, plus Jubilee hose clips and ABUS padlocks and security.
Workshop PPE and workwear
Bollé and Uvex eye protection, gloves to EN 388, Rockfall and Roots footwear to EN ISO 20345, and workwear including flame-retardant garments to EN ISO 11611 and EN ISO 11612 where welding and hot work require them.
Twenty-five years of continuous ISO 9001 certification
TES first achieved ISO 9001 on 8 March 2000, under certificate 1214, and has held it continuously ever since. The scope on the certificate reads “The Supply of Engineering Supplies to the Public and Private Sector and Related Markets”.
Two things about that are worth separating, because they measure different things and are easily merged. TES has been trading since 1990 — thirty-six years. It has been ISO 9001 certified since 2000 — twenty-five years and counting, without a break. It is the second figure that a quality manager auditing a supplier cares about, and continuous certification over that span is a genuinely differentiating claim rather than a badge.
The certificate is issued by AUVA, a UKAS-accredited certification body. ISO 14001 (certificate 2100) and ISO 45001 (certificate 2101) are issued by the same body under the same scope, and TES has been a BSIF Registered Safety Supplier since August 2024. Stores, vending and workshop fit-out
Industrial customers are where the services around the catalogue land hardest, because a workshop’s real cost is not the price of a consumable but the time spent finding, chasing and re-ordering it.
- Stores management — bringing structure to a store that has grown organically, with min/max levels, call-off and account support. Most maintenance stores were never designed; they accumulated.
