Marine, quayside and waterside work sits between two supply patterns. The PPE looks like construction PPE until you get to the water’s edge, where the specification changes; and the tooling looks like workshop tooling until salt air gets at it. Both are why a general industrial supplier and a marine specification tend to part company.
TES has traded from West Thurrock, on the north bank of the Thames, since 2001, and has been a long-standing supplier to Tilbury Docks. It supplies PPE, workwear, tooling and consumables to marine, quayside and waterside operations.

Work at the water’s edge is specified differently: buoyancy aids and lifejackets are certified to EN ISO 12402 rather than to any construction standard. Give us the standard, the buoyancy class and the duty, and we will source against it.

Marine and waterside maintenance runs into obsolete and non-standard parts more often than most sectors — equipment stays in service a long time, and the original supplier does not always outlast it. Substituting the nearest catalogue equivalent is how a maintenance problem becomes a bigger one.

TES moved into purpose-built premises in West Thurrock in 2001, on the north bank of the Thames and inside the M25. For marine and waterside customers along the estuary, that means same-day local delivery on TES’s own vehicles rather than a next-day promise made by a carrier.

The estuary is also where a good deal of the work has been. TES has supplied the Thames Tideway scheme and its western section, Tideway West — 25 km of tunnel beneath the river, built from 2016 and fully connected in February 2025, from a chain of riverside worksites along the Thames, with much of the material and spoil moved by river rather than by road. Riverside construction run that way is marine supply in everything but name. Both appear on the tunnelling page too, and the dates are the project’s own, not the period TES was supplying it.
The certifications behind the supply are ISO 9001 (certificate 1214, held continuously since 8 March 2000), ISO 14001 (2100) and ISO 45001 (2101), all issued by AUVA, a UKAS-accredited certification body, together with BSIF Registered Safety Supplier status since August 2024.
